Autosave for Adobe Photoshop
The very first tool to enable automatic saving of documents in Adobe Photoshop
Now for Photoshop CS 5!
Why autosave?
Many a professional program enables you as a user to automatically save your documents while you are working. Thus, you may focus solely on your work without having to care about whether you saved it a few minutes ago, an hour ago or not at all. The option to automatically save your work takes care of these situations for you.
From time to time there is an exception in the application you are working in, and such a sudden crash without saving often causes a loss of several dozens of minutes or even hours of work. The autosave function takes care of situations like this by saving your work in progress automatically in the intervals you set, and in case your application crashes you lose for example only five minutes of your work.
Autosave and Adobe Photoshop
Currently, there is the 11th version version (CS4) of Photoshop, a graphic program created by the Adobe company, and not even its Extended version offers an option of automatic saving. Autosave cannot be resolved through scripting, actions or plug-ins which is why it has not been created yet.
The solution is brought by an Autosave product which is able to automatically save your documents. The Autosave application neither reduces the performance of Photoshop nor affects it in any other way. It is a completely separate application which runs independently of Photoshop as such.
Autosave and incremental save of documents
As well as autosave, lots of programs support an incremental save. Thus, it is possible to work on a single document for a long time and, at the same time, to be able to go one version back anytime. Adobe Photoshop does not support incremental saving of files and deals with this issue through an option to create snapshots. It is necessary to mention, however, that each snapshot gets saved as a history status which is quite a burden for the memory Photoshop has available. Besides, the whole history gets deleted on closing the document, including the snapshots, and it is then impossible to get back to individual versions of files.
Again, Autosave offers a solution which enables you to save any number of versions of individual files. Each version is numbered and saved on the disc so users can then get back to previous versions of their files anytime, even if they shut Photoshop before.
